You can feel your heart pounding in your chest. Sweat dripping off your brow and your legs just about to give out. You want to stop. You want to give up. But you can’t. The finish line is right in front of you and you promised yourself you’re going to make it.

It’s time to keep that promise! It’s time to be relentless!

Perseverance. Doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.

To win you need to keep running. You need to keep fighting and telling yourself, “yes I can do it!”. Life is a race and the only way you’re reaching your goal is by not giving up.

On July 10th, 2021 I decided it was time to challenge myself. I was going to run 100 miles. One of my biggest challenges to overcome yet and there was nothing that could stop me.

First I needed to train. I needed to get ready and prepare myself for what was going to be one of the toughest physical and mental challenges I ever had to overcome.

Your body and your mind are connected. If you can convince yourself that “yes, I can do it”…. Your body will follow your mind. You decide your potential. You decide if you can do something or not.

The first obstacle to conquer is the battle of the mind!

If you can overcome the mental barrier stopping you from achieving something, you can achieve anything!

I told myself that I was capable of doing it and I believed in myself. Believing in yourself is what’s going to power you through the obstacles of your life and it’s step one of any journey you ever decide to go on. Step two is giving it your all. Once you decide you’re going to do something, you need to make sure you’re doing everything you can to achieve that target. You need to dedicate all of your being to it.
No half measure and no short cut. No excuses. Just pure hard work and determination. You get what you work for. In my case, I got what I trained for! It’s important to embark on a path to consistent perseverance, determination and self improvement.

Once I had the mental and physical preparation done it was time for affirmations. Writing down my goals and bringing my dreams to life. Setting a goal is critical when it comes to achieving a target. This helps you stay on track and stay motivated. Every time you think about your goal, your determination and strength will be renewed. You’ll remember why you’re working so hard and why what you’re doing is so important. Without goals we’re all just leaves floating in a stream with no destination. No destination and no plan is boring. Who wants to waste their potential? To not be all they can be and all they could have been? Without goals that’s what we are just wandering through life aimlessly.

Write down your goals and tell yourself that you are not only going to achieve them…. YOU are going to completely crush them! You are going to be the best version of yourself and nothing can stop you!!

With my goals written and my training complete it was time for the big day. It was time to shine. The race was tough. There were a lot of surprises along the way. Unexpected challenges that I had to deal with or else risk giving up my dream.

I persevered. I fought on and kept moving forward. 31 hours later after feeling nauseous, a period of not being able to eat without vomiting, a stint with a bear (Well technically a cow but it looked like a bear), hail on leg 7 of the race and my quads giving out … I finally crossed the finish line. I finished a little overtime but I still completed my goal and I ran 100 miles!

I ran 100 freaking miles! A year ago that sounded impossible to me but here I was. 100 miles done and dusted.

I believed in myself and achieved the impossible. I persevered.

You can too. You decide your potential.
Are you going to hold yourself back or push yourself forward?
Keep fighting, keep winning. Crush those goals!
