New Year’s is here…
If you are anything like me, you likely have a long list of your New Year’s resolutions. These resolutions can vary from doubling your income to getting back to a high level of fitness.
Many of us struggle because we come up with new resolutions and new goals, and yet by the end of the year, few of the goals actually get achieved. Why not turn this around for 2022? Why not make it happen THIS year? I challenge you to achieve ALL of your goals this year!
No letting yourself off the hook!
SO… Now what?
How can you accomplish ALL of your goals?
Here are 5 simple strategies:
#1. Write it down.
This is such a simple strategy that many of you may have heard SO many times….BUT it works. Believe it or not writing down your goal on paper is actually one of the best ways to stay on track. Writing down your goal brings it out from the imaginary world of your mind to the real world and once it’s there…it’s there to stay. Once your goal is written down then you can write and create a plan on how to tackle it. I highly recommend writting down your most important goals and placing a reminder somewhere you can see it every day so you are continuously reminded of what you’re fighting for and aiming to achieve.
#2. Take the first step.
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step!”- Lao Tzu
This quote can change your life if you start to apply it to your goals. Most of the time the only thing that’s stopping us from achieving success is our own fear. Almost everything great that we want in this requires us to take a step out of our comfort zones. Just like jumping out of a perfectly good airplane… The hardest part can be taking that first step. Once you take a step forward in spite of your fear(s)… you’re going to be unstoppable!
Don’t let the fear of failure stop you from starting your journey. No matter how difficult your goal is taking the first step is the only way you’ll ever achieve it.
#3. Know your way by creating a plan.
Smart work is better than hard work. Mis-directed efforts will never get you where you want to be. Make a plan. Write down your goals and then create your road map. Create a step-by-step guide of how you’re going to get there. I also recommend breaking down your goal into smaller steps and milestones.
#4. Allow yourself to stumble.
That’s right… I said it, ” allow yourself to stumble”. At the end of the day, we’re human and we ALL make mistakes. Mistakes make us who we are. Let yourself make mistakes. Learn from them. If you slip up. No big deal, just get back up and try even harder.
Every mistake is an opportunity to learn. Do not beat yourself up for making a mistake, everything serves a purpose and this too can serve a purpose. It’s okay to be human. Why not work for yourself instead of against yourself. Lift yourself up instead of pulling yourself down. How motivated are you to achieve your goal if you beat yourself up every single time that you make a slight error? Try lifting yourself up instead. I find it works much better. As Bob Ross states; “There are no mistakes, just happy accidents”.
#5 Have fun!
You get to stumble AND have fun too? Of course, because why the heck not find some joy in working towards that goal? The most important thing you can do is have fun. Work hard and play hard. Reward yourself every time you do a good job. Positive reinforcement has been scientifically proven to be more effective than negative reinforcement. As I said in the strategy above… Absolutely do NOT beat yourself up if you make mistakes. Instead look at the positive side. In most situations, there is always a silver lining. Find the joy in journey and working towards your goals. This makes it much more meaningful.
These are just a few strategies to help you achieve for 2022. Still struggling with how you are going to make it happen this year? Send me an email and let’s figure it out!
